Take a relaxing cruise on Suruga Bay on a scheduled routine or chartered boat. The view of Mt. Fuji over the ocean is truly spectacular. Since Mt. Fuji changes its appearance depending on the season and time of day, you will be able to admire a beautiful view unique to that particular moment in time.
Shimizu Port is one of the largest tuna producing sites in Japan. Receive a direct lecture from a professional sushi chef in the home of tuna. You will experience making your own hand-pressed (Nigiri) Sushi using fresh tuna. Beginner friendly program.
The Shimizu Fish Market “Kishi no Ichi” and the “Shimizu Sushi Museum” are also part of the tour course. Deepen your experience by learning about the local tuna culture and the history of sushi. Here is a “community rooted story” that cannot be obtained through mere sightseeing.
There are two different cruise tours departing from Shimizu Port available.
In the Scheduled Routine Cruise Plan, the view of Mr. Fuji over Suruga Bay can be enjoyed leisurely from the observation deck of a large ship. The open deck and affordable pricing make it easy and accesible to experience this spectacular view.
The Charter Boat Plan offers a private cruise for a small group of up to 10 people. This is recommended for those who want to spend a particular special time or for commemorative / anniversary trips. The staff will also assist with photography, leaving you with a lifetime of memories with Mt. Fuji looking over the ship.
Both plans feature the most beautiful views of Mt. Fuji, that also change according to the weather and time of day, and we invite you to experience it from the sea.
“Because it is directly operated by the market wholesalers, fresh ingredients are readily available. We use fresh tuna fillets, shrimps, salmon, salmon roe,
eggs, etc., to prepare the sushi alongside our chefs.”。
First-timers will be given a detailed lecture on how to handle the ingredients. At the end of the lecture, the participants will be able to savor the sushi they made themselves on the spot.
Please enjoy to your heart’s content the hand-made Sushi crafted from the most colorful ingredients from the fish market in Shimizu, know as the town of tuna and Sushi.
The tour also includes a visit to “Kishi no Ichi,” Shimizu’s local fish market that supports Shizuoka’s food culture, and the Sushi Museum, which introduces sushi from its origins to the present day.
The contents will tickle your intellectual curiosity, giving you a glimpse into the behind the scenes of the city that tourists don’t ordinarily get to experience.
In addition to Chibi Maruko-chan Land, S-Pulse Dream Plaza also has a ton of other events, gourmet food, and entertainment you might want to stop by outside of the scheduled tour program!

Shizuoka City is also renowned as the “Plastic Model Capital of the World,” a hub for plastic model manufacturing. Globally high regarded manufacturers such as Tamiya, Hasegawa, Aoshima and Fujimi Model, have their headquarters here. The annual “Shizuoka Hobby Show,” held around May each year, is a major event where manufacturers, dealers, and model enthusiasts from all around the world gather in the city.

Cherished by people both inside and outside the city, the beloved “Plamonument, is an iconic symbol of its significance here. Designed to resemble an unassembled plastic model kit, this monument welcomes visitors throughout the city. It’s full of playful touches, like taking photos where you look like a plastic model part yourself, or actually being able to post letters and postcards in a plastic model-style mailbox. As of March 2025, 15 monuments are installed at 14 locations throughout the city. Whether you’re a model kit enthusiast or not, you’ll find yourself captivated by them. We highly recommend paying them a visit.

Additionally, the popular anime “Chibi Maruko-chan,” widely known in Asia, was set in Shimizu Ward (formerly Shimizu City) in Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture. It is also the hometown of the author, Momoko Sakura. In 2023, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Shizuoka City’s sewerage system, manhole covers featuring “Chibi Maruko-chan” designs were comissioned. Many are installed around Shimizu Port and Shizuoka Station, so make sure to be on the look out for them.
