Sakura Town is one of Japan’s largest pop culture centers located in Tokorozawa (Saitama Prefecture) and is managed and operated by the KADOKAWA Group.
As an all-in-one cultural complex, the facility features various entertainment options encompassed under the Cool Japan Initiative. Ranging from grand architecture such as the Kadokawa Culture Museum’s distinctive exterior that was designed by world renowned architect Kengo Kuma, to the Musashino Reiwa Shrine and multiple restaurants (such as the Canteen KADOKAWA), and the Da Vinci Store, a KADOKAWA-owned, interactive bookstore based on the concept of “discovery and association.
Canteen KADOKAWA is a buffet-style casual restaurant. Since the city of Tokorozawa, where Sakura Town is located, is one of the leading vegetable producing areas in Japan, the restaurant's menu was developed using these local vegetables. It also actively implements special collaboration menus with anime, the museum's exhibits and the hall's ongoing events.
The Kadokawa Culture Museum is a cultural complex that combines libraries, art galleries and museums. It stands out for its distinctive architecture designed by Kengo Kuma, and regularly hosts a variety of special exhibitions and events. Of special note is also the “Bookshelf Theater,” providing a 360-degree angle surrounded by books that paired with the projection mapping display shown every 20 minutes, makes for a truly spectacular must-see sight.
Da Vinci Store is an interactive bookstore operated by KADOKAWA and is centered around the concept of “discovery and association. In the merchandise section of the store you can find anime goods from KADOKAWA's manga and light novel titles, as well as special collaboration items related to ongoing exhibitions and events.
Designed and supervised by architect Kengo Kuma, the shrine was built as a “place of prayer” on the Musashino Plateau overlooking Mt. Fuji, and also as a “Mecca of Cool Japan Culture”. The name of the shrine means "Beautiful Yamato" or "Beautiful Japan" truly representing the Japanese culture movement of ”Cool Japan".
